How to Convert Grains to Drams

In the old English system of weights, two units are the grain and the dram. The grain is abbreviated "gr." and the dram is abbreviated "dr." or "dr. ap." It takes 3 scruples to equal one dram, and 20 grains to equal 1 scruple. Therefore, it takes 60 grains to equal 1 dram. Knowing the conversion factors allows you to quickly and accurately convert between grains and drams.
