Use a fine-tipped marker to write a letter or a word at beginning of a sheet of lined paper. Write the letters using dashes rather than fully formed lines. The dashed lines serve as a guideline for students to follow as they trace the letters or words on the page. Fill in two full lines of dashed letters or words.
Upon reaching the third line of the page, write only a half line of dashed letters or words. Students will use the remaining space on the line to practice writing the letters or words written on the page on their own.
Leave the remaining lines of the sheet of paper blank. Children should use the remaining lines of the sheet of paper to practice writing the letters or words on their own.
Photocopy the handwriting worksheets. Make triple the amount of handwriting worksheets than the number of students in your class. This will allow each student to have three copies to practice their handwriting. Store the remaining worksheets for use with future classes.
