Provide children with handwriting worksheets to trace. Generate worksheets using a computer program, photocopy them from teacher resource books or hand write and photocopy the worksheets. Encourage children to trace the letters and symbols printed on the sheets with ordinary pencils, colored pencils, crayons and markers.
Print letters, words and numbers on sheets of paper. Insert the sheets of paper into plastic photo-protector sleeves. Provide children with dry-erase markers and instruct them to trace the letters, words and numbers. Offer them erasers to remove their tracings so they can retrace the symbols over again.
Spread shaving cream or pudding along the surface of a cookie sheet or on the surface of a desk. Encourage students to use their fingers to practice writing in the shaving cream. To erase what has been written, children can smooth out the surface and continue writing in the material.
Place finger paint on construction paper. Prompt children to practice writing letters and words in the finger paint. Alternatively, you could print letters or words on a sheet of construction paper and instruct children to trace the letters or words with finger paint.
Provide students with letter stencils, paper and pencils. Encourage students to trace the stencils on the paper. They can use the stencils to create words or simply trace the letters, gaining practice on how to properly form letters.
Offer children lined paper, pencils and an alphabet sheet. Encourage students to practice writing on the lined paper, using the alphabet sheet as a guide.
