Schedule a meeting with the teacher to discuss the situation. If you do not want to meet with the teacher one-on-one, ask the school principal to attend. Address all your major concerns and hash out the details of the situation.
Report the teacher to the school principal first so she can respond according to the school's written policies and make decisions about the safety of other children in that teacher's care. Fill out an incident report at the school.
Write out a statement of your complaint and send one copy to your child's school principal and another copy to the school board. Ask the school board or school principal to disclose the proper chain of command for handling complaints. Some school districts have boards or committees created specifically for handling teacher misconduct complaints.
File a police report if you believe your child was a victim of physical or sexual assault. Obtain copies of the police reports for your records.
Report the teacher to the state licensing board so the board may investigate if the teacher's conduct warrants suspending or revoking her teaching license.
