Give the children sheets of construction paper and markers. Instruct them to draw shapes smaller than the circumference of the apples. These shapes can be geometric, like circles or squares, or they can be animals like a dog or horse.
Give the children the scissors and have them cut out the shapes they drew.
Cut the apples in half. Then place one of the cutouts over the flat side of the apple and use the knife to cut into the apple around the shape. You only need to go about a quarter of an inch in.
Cut inward from the edge of the flat side of the apple to separate the outer part around the design. Pop this outer section off. This leaves the stamp ready to use.
Give the children ink pads and more paper and have them use the apple stamps to create designs on the paper.
