How to Make a Paragraph Out of Dot Tracing

For young children just learning how to write, tracing dotted letters can make the process less difficult. Tracing around the dots helps them grasp the shape and technique of forming specific letters and helps them to learn the concept of writing within boundaries. Creating your own dot-tracing paragraph for children gives them a new challenge to master. Write the paragraph about something fun to make it more interesting.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Type or write out the paragraph in normal print or handwriting so you'll have a point of reference when creating the tracing.

    • 2

Obtain paper designed for beginner writers. This paper has two solid lines with a dotted line in the center. The line system provides a guide for young writers when forming letters. Purchase the paper, or print a sheet for free from one of a number of online sources.

    • 3

Use a pen or pencil to draw each letter in the paragraph in dot form within the lines of the writing paper. Make the dots close enough together that each letter is easily recognizable. Continue with the process until the paragraph is complete in dotted-letter form.
