Tutoring will help students who need a little bit of extra help in learning certain academic areas. Tutoring takes place before or after school, and is in addition to the child's regular school day. Tutoring may come in the form of one-on-one sessions with a tutor, or a session with several other children and the tutor.
Specialized learning classes teach students how to cope with learning issues. These skills may include learning time management or study skills. The classes may be part of a child's regular school day, or may be offered after school.
Aides will provide one-on-one help to a child who would otherwise need to be in an ESE classroom. The aide will explain work that the student is struggling with, and will help keep the student on task. Many aides will have taken ESE classes.
Online programs allow students to complete certain subjects at home that they would struggle with in a regular classroom setting. These programs can be completed wherever the student has Internet access, and the student will often be able to complete the program at his own pace. Students can complete just one or two academic subjects online, or they can complete all of their subjects in this manner.
