How to Make Glue Out of Milk

This is a perfect activity to do with kids as they make their own glue for craft projects. It's also a good recipe to have on hand if you ever run out of glue in the house. With this simple recipe and a few ingredients most families have on hand, you can whip up a batch of glue in a few minutes. If you skip the last few steps, you can make yourself a moldable paste that is fun to play with.

Instructions

    • 1

Pour the milk into a large cup. Stir the vinegar into the milk and allow it to sit for a few minutes.

    • 2

Pour the mixture onto a paper towel or coffee filter once solids, or curds, have begun to form. Hold the towel or filter over a cup or the sink to drain out the liquid. Let them sit there for five minutes to completely drain out.

    • 3

Transfer the curds to a dry paper towel and press another dry paper towel on top. You want to get out all the whey, or liquid, you can.

    • 4

Put the curds into a cup or bowl and add the water and baking soda to it. Stir the mixture together.

    • 5

Use a paintbrush or your fingers to apply the glue to paper or other items.
