The Oakwood Preparatory School was originally founded in 1912 and currently enrolls fewer than 300 children per year, ages 2 to 11. The beautiful, large Georgian country house that students attend each day is set on 160 acres of lush woodland between the coast and the South Downs.
The school works to establish a strong sense of community among the students and highly encourages personal achievement. The curriculum is structured but flexible, focusing on six key areas: personal, social and emotional development; communication, language and literacy; problem-solving, reasoning and numeracy; knowledge and understanding of the world; physical development; and creative development.
All classrooms are spacious and well-equipped, and the property also includes a library, gymnasium, dining room, science lab, art and design technology studio, music and theater complex, heated indoor swimming pool, tennis courts, and more than nine acres of athletic fields.
