The Austin Peace Academy was established in 1997 by Austin's Muslim community. It teaches pre-kindergarten through eleventh grade students, providing them an exemplary, stimulating education that preserves their Islamic identity, heritage and practices. The curriculum is accelerated and covers Islamic Studies and Arabic language in addition to traditional academic subjects. Class sizes are small, and students are challenged to perform beyond grade level. The academy is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Austin Montessori School opened in 1967 and is affiliated with the international Montessori educational movement. It educates children from 18 months to 15 years old at three different campuses in Austin. Montessori educations are highly personalized. Teachers at the Austin Montessori School are well-trained. Class sizes run between 28 and 35 students per class.
Established in 1980, the Austin Waldorf School is part of a national educational movement that aims to educate the whole child in a creative and non-competitive manner. It enrolls students from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Parents are greatly involved and a single teacher stays with your child throughout the first eight years. The school is not religious, but emphasizes an understanding of world cultures and religions, along with stressing foreign language and computer skills. The campus is 19 acres and is located on the edge of Texas Hill Country.
St. Andrew's Episcopal School, founded in 1952, strives to nurture your child's growth in every respect: spiritual, emotional, athletic, artistic and academic. The school teaches grades 1-12 in a Christian environment that aims to honor and support each unique individual. St. Andrew's accepts students of all religious backgrounds, although there are daily chapel services. Students perform extensive community service and have the opportunity to participate in a junior year experience travel program. The school is accredited by the Independent School Association of the Southwest and the Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools.
