Camps for Teens That Are Free

Many teens turn to summer camps to help develop a special skill, pick up new skills and make new friends from around the country (sometimes even around the world). However, summer camps may not be a financial reality for some people, so many summer camps make it possible for teens to attend camp free of charge.
  1. Camp Sunshine

    • Located next to Sebago Lake in Casco, Maine, Camp Sunshine is the perfect place for teens and children who are struggling with chronic illnesses. Sponsored by several different organizations, each week at Camp Sunshine features a theme such as lupus, renal issues, cancer or anemia. Teens and their families can enjoy a week with proper medical supervision, free of charge, as they meet and greet other teens and kids with their illnesses and participate in outdoor activities.

    Wingspan Arts

    • Wingspan Arts, in the heart of New York City, provides professional conservatory programs for teens free of charge. Teens, with a recommendation from a teacher of any subject, can sign up to receive world-class training and participate in a full-length classical musical theater piece to present to friends and family at the end of the summer.

    Camp Rising Sun

    • Dedicated to helping children reach their full leadership potential, Camp Rising Sun offers teens from the United States and elsewhere to come develop their character and intellect. This free camp is segregated into boys' (located in Rhinebeck, New York) and girls' centers (Clinton Corners, New York) and offers teens a seven-week camp that seeks to help students broaden their cultural, intellectual and artistic horizons. While the camp is free of charges, interested campers must apply with a character reference form and show that they are competent in English.

    Royal Family Kids Camp

    • Royal Family Kids Camp aims to bring foster children who have been abused to camp free of charge. The camp operates out of churches in 33 U.S. states, in addition to 20 countries including Chile and Japan. These camps seek to provide a traditional camp experience, as well as extending a loving hand to children who have suffered abuse and neglect.
