Find the score you want to examine. The Stanford 10 individual score sheet lists scores for total reading (word study skills, word reading, sentence reading and reading composition), total math (math problem solving, math procedures), language, spelling, environment, partial battery and total battery.
Find the "National NCE," or normal curve equivalent, for the category you want to examine. This is the fourth column to the right.
Compare the score to the national average. On average, children obtain an NCE of 50.0. Any score above 50.0 ranks as above average, while any score below ranks as below average. The chart on the very left side of the results (with the yellow bars) illustrates the information found in this section.
Find the National PR -- the fifth column to the right. This shows your child's national percentile rank in each category. For example, if your child scored a 69 National PR in language, this means that your child falls into the 69th percentile in language arts. In a class of 100 people, your child surpasses (on average) 68 people in the class.
Find the Grade Equivalent -- the sixth column to the right. This shows where your child's abilities fall, according to the average of each grade level. For example, if your child receives a grade equivalent score of 4.0 in spelling, then your child performs at what is considered average for fourth grade.
