Cut a piece of yarn to the width of the door frame.
Attach yarn across the top of the door frame with tape, thumbtacks or staples, securing on each end only.
Cut about 12 6-foot strands of yarn.
Wet the yarn pieces, but do not soak them.
Pull each yarn strand apart gently, creating a fuzzy cobweb look.
Drape the pulled yarn strands over the top strand all the way across the doorway. Attach plastic or student-made spiders if desired.
Measure the length and width of the door with a tape measure.
Cut a piece of black butcher paper to the exact dimensions of the door. Black construction paper may also be used.
Place the paper on a flat surface and begin drawing a spiderweb with liquid glue by making a straight vertical line down the center of the paper. Start and end the line where you want the web to be.
Bisect the vertical line with a straight horizontal line, creating a plus sign.
Draw two diagonal lines through the center of the plus sign, placing one on the left side and one on the right side of the plus.
Draw a large circle around the perimeter of the straight lines, touching each line at its end.
Move toward the center of the web, drawing one or two more progressively smaller circles, depending on the size of the web.
Sprinkle the glue lines with white rice, covering completely.
Allow glue to dry thoroughly, at least one hour.
Shake off the excess rice by holding the paper over a garbage can or carrying outside.
Attach paper to the door with duct tape.
