Cute Homemade Valentine's for Your Students

Students appreciate receiving cute, homemade Valentine's Day cards and presents from peers and teachers. A homemade card costs less money to make, and you personalize cards to individualize the student on a special day. In fact, making your own Valentine's Day-themed items can often be cheaper than buying impersonal store-bought ones.
  1. Computer-Generated Valentine's Day Card

    • Microsoft Word and Power Point both have templates that can help you easily create personalized, cute Valentine's Day cards for your students. Just choose one of the card templates that are appropriate for kids and then add or change the text and pictures to suit your needs. To make the cards more personal, add a photo of your students or something that is special to them, such as a class pet. Finally, add a handwritten signature to each card.

    Valentine's Day Pen Craft

    • Pens topped with either a silk flower a peacock feather make cute and inexpensive Valentine's Day gifts for your students. Although these pens look fancy, they are actually very easy to make. First, you will need to cut your flower's stem or peacock's quill down so that it will not tower over your pen. Next use red or pink florist tape to wrap the pen and flower or quill together. Print out a little Happy Valentine's Day tag and tie to the pen with a cute ribbon. Give the flower pens to the girls and the feather pens to the boys in your class.

    Framed Picture of Your Class

    • Create cute picture frames out of fun foam for your students. You will need two 4-by-5-inch or larger fun foam squares or rectangles. You can either leave the foam as is or cut both pieces into heart shapes. Next, cut the center out of one foam piece, leaving a border that is approximately one-inch wide. Print out an appropriately sized picture of your class and place on top of the uncut foam piece. Glue the other piece on top to create a cute picture frame. Decorate with glitter and a Happy Valentine's Day-themed sentiment across the top.

    Valentine's Day Rewards

    • Today, with proper nutrition a growing concern, many school districts frown upon teachers handing out candy and sweets, even at Valentine's Day. A Valentine's Day gift alternative to candy is a reward coupon that you give to each student. Examples of rewards you can give include "Eat Lunch with the Teacher," or a "No Homework Pass." Print out or hand write each reward coupon on a heart shape and decorate with glitter and Valentine's Day stickers.
