How to Make a Crayon Box for Bulletin Board

A large crayon box displayed on a classroom bulletin board creates a colorful and welcoming scene. Use the crayon box at the beginning of the year as a way to introduce students, by placing each student's name and picture on a paper crayon placed in the box or on the board. Celebrate classroom diversity by having each child write about what makes him unique. Track the number of days in the school year by adding a new crayon each day or let students use the box as a way to share their favorite colors.

Instructions

    • 1

Use yellow butcher paper or sheets of yellow construction paper to make a crayon box that meets the size limits of your bulletin board. Cut the butcher paper into a rectangular size or tape construction paper sheets together to form a rectangle that fits on the board. Make a wide rectangle to resemble a large box of crayons or a tall rectangle to resemble a classic box of eight or 16 crayons.

    • 2

Cut out a half circle shape from the top of the crayon box to represent the box's top opening. Use the green and black markers to add accents to the box and write a title on the box, such as "A Colorful Class" or "A Student Rainbow" with the black marker.

    • 3

Staple the crayon box to the bulletin board along the bottom and sides of the box. Avoid stapling the top edge of the box at this time if you are planning to place paper crayons in the box.

    • 4

Finish stapling the top edge of the box once any crayons or other bulletin board accents have been added.
