Prepare your index cards.Write subjects on the front of your index cards. Include set all first, second, and third-person singular and plural pronouns (for example, include I, he, she, they, and you). Writing things down helps you remember them.
Use more index cards and write verbs on one side. Pick a card with a subject. Say the subject aloud and guess the verb form. Match the cards, then check your answer. Repeat for each subject card. Once you can answer each correctly, get the index cards with the verbs and see if you can match them to subjects. Repeat. Create more index cards with other verbs, such as "speaks" or "walks."
Create a game, such as jeopardy, with a verb-subject agreement theme. Ask the contestants to spell the verb, include past, present, and future tenses as well as tricky subject-verb agreements. Whether you are the host or one of the players, you will achieve the repetition needed to memorize.
