Connect the math concept with something familiar to you. For example, to commute means to change locations. So, when learning the commutative property, think of the definition of commute and use the expressions a+b=b+a.
Use acronyms. For example, P.E.M.D.A.S. (Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally) refers to the order of operations: Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction.
Sing a math concept rhythmically. For example, when learning the multiples of five, sing "5, 10, 15, 20, 25" and so on to the melody of the ABC song.
Use kinesthetics. For example, when learning the multiples of 3, count by ones and clap every time you reach a multiple of 3. To add an element, clap for multiples of 3 and stomp your foot for multiples of 5.
Practice. For example, write multiplication tables at least 10 times to memorize the products.
