A number line is a visual representation of a set of numbers in which the numbers are lined up in sequential order from left to right. The numbers can be negative or positive. An odd number is a value that is not divisible by the number 2. Any value that is divisible by the number 2 is known as an "even" number. Some number lines illustrate only odd numbers. You can read an odd number line once you understand the placement of the numbers.

1
Look at the number farthest to the left. This will be the least odd number in the set.
-
2
Look at the number farthest to the right. This will be the greatest odd number in the set of values.

Look at spaces in between the odd numbers. Even though these spaces wouldn't be marked on an odd number line, they represent even numbers. For instance, if you have a marker for the numbers 5 and 7 on an odd number line, the space between 5 and 7 represents the value 6.
