How to Do Dot Products on the TI-Nspire

The TI-Nspire is part of Texas Instrument's line of graphing calculators, related to others such as the TI-8x series. The TI-Nspire is capable of handling most mathematical duties, but cannot do 3-D graphing. These limitations are minor, and if you are trying to compute dot products, the Nspire is well suited. Using the Nspire to solve dot products will save time over solving them with a pencil and paper.

Instructions

    • 1

Press "Clear" to erase all previous computations.

    • 2

Select "2nd," "Math," "4", "Alpha," ")" and "3" to open the dot product solver.

    • 3

Input the product vectors. For this example we will use the dot products "<5,3>" and "<4,1>." Type in the numbers so they appear as the following: [5,3],[4,1].

    • 4

Close your expression by pressing ")" and press "Enter" to solve.
