Brainstorm about the content of the book. You need to identify the main point of the book, apart from summarizing its progression. Write down any significant points or ideas on a notepad so that you do not forget them.
Compose an outline to organize your thoughts, planning about 5 paragraphs, each around one single point or theme you about which you discovered. The first paragraph should introduce the reader to the book and your analysis, the following paragraphs should draw out the story and accent important events or themes, the concluding paragraphs should briefly mention the subject of each of the previous paragraphs, and tie the information together with a final analysis.
Write the first paragraph. Summarize why you chose to report on this book, and briefly introduce the reader to some themes and points which you will explore later.
Compose paragraphs 2-4 each around a different topic or theme, extrapolating important points of the book. Give your opinion on points such as the theme (main idea of the book), plot (main storyline of the book), setting (the background and context of the story), and characters (main actors in the story). Introduce your own interpretation and opinion on these points, rather than simply re-iterating what is in the book.
Summarize the content of paragraphs 2-4 in the final paragraph of your report, briefly writing about the point of each paragraph, and provide a concluding statement which concisely sums up what you have learned in writing and reporting on the book.
