A child's hand print is a wonderful keepsake. Pour red or pink finger paint onto a paper plate. Press the child's hand into the paint and then press firmly onto a sheet of paper or card stock. Paint the palms of younger kids with the finger paint using a paintbrush; press the child's hand onto the paper. Make a heart shape hand print by pressing the left hand onto the paper on an angle, palm in the bottom, left hand corner with the fingers pointing to the right corner. The right hand print should be exactly opposite of the left hand. The right palm should be in the bottom, right hand corner with the fingers pointing to the top, left corner and overlapping the fingerprints of the first hand print.
A Valentine box is a must have for any classroom Valentine's Day card exchange. Take a small box, such as a shoe box or tissue box, and wrap it with red paper. Wrapping paper or construction paper would be good choices. Secure the paper in place with tape. Decorate the outside of the box with Valentine themed stamps, stickers and stencils. Cut a horizontal slit in the center of the box top. Paint the top and personalize it with the child's name. Dry and then place the top onto the box.
Love-themed plant sticks are wonderful garden crafts for mothers. Paint craft popsicle sticks in shades of pink and red. While the popsicle sticks are drying, paint small wooden craft hearts. Allow to dry completely. Glue one wooden heart to the tip of each popsicle stick with a hot glue gun. Add craft gems, craft pom poms and a special message to the Valentine plant stick. Place the plant stick into a small flower pot and it's ready to give to moms and grandmothers.
Creating a heart magnet is a simple but fun craft for kids of all ages. Hot glue a piece of red or pink felt onto one side of a wooden craft heart. Cut the excess felt from around the edge of the wooden heart. Glue ribbon or lace around the trim of the heart. A felt tip marker is ideal to write any Valentine messages or names on the front of the felt heart. Hot glue a flat, craft magnet on the backside of the wooden heart.
