Cute Ideas to Decorate a Teacher's Classroom Door

Half the fun of being a teacher is making your classroom feel warm and inviting for your young students. Decorating your door will welcome and inspire them for the upcoming school year. Consider the grade(s) you are teaching, and the complexity of the project you are willing to invest in.
  1. Teacher's Personality

    • Reflect on your personality. Decorate the door to show students who you are. Two-dimensional designs made with different materials is ideal. For example, if you tend to be an outdoors person, create a two-dimensional camping scene. Cut felt in the shape of a tent. Tape plastic wrap on blue paper cut to look like a lake. Cut brown construction paper to make tree trunks and cut leaf shapes individually or as a tree top.

    Thematic

    • Choose a theme. The beginning of the school year signals the start of autumn. Cut a tree trunk using construction paper. Draw bark details with a black marker or glue smaller, narrow pieces of paper that are darker and lighter brown to create a more effective illusion. Cut out leaves of various colors of construction paper. Print the names of your students on the leaves.

    A Puzzle

    • Start the school year with class participation. To prepare in advance, draw a puzzle on white paper, approximately 2 by 3 feet. Outline with black magic marker and cut out. Give a piece to every student and have them decorate it with their name on the front. Attach each piece to the door with no particular order.

    Photos

    • On the first day of school, take a photo of each student. Develop the photos and provide construction paper, scissors and glue for your students. They can create a personalized "frame" that, at the end of the school year will become a valuable item for their memory box.
