Write the quoted or paraphrased material within the text of the paper. In parentheses at the end of the sentence, write the author's last name and the year the letter was written: (Peterson 2010).
Create a citation within the works referenced section. Begin with the author(s) last name, followed by first. If there is more than one author, separate with an ampersand (&), listing names in the order they appear on the document: Peterson, M., Richards, C., & Wright, B.
Type the title of the letter. Type "Letter to the Senate" in parentheses immediately following the letter's title. Type the name of the hearing in which the letter is recorded in italics: Cloning and Life Expectancy. (Letter to the Senate). The Conscience of Cloning: Hearing before the Senate Committee on Medical Ethics.
Type the serial number of the hearing in parenthesis. Write the Congress number. Type the year of the Senate meeting in parentheses. Write the page number in the record wherein the letter begins. Give the name of the witness reading the letter: "(Serial 108-134), 108th Cong. (2004)(testimony of Meredith Weiss)."
