Find the name of the author. You will also need to look and see if there are multiple authors. Write or type the author's last name first. Place a comma directly after the last letter of the last name. Make one space after the comma and type the authors first name followed by a period. If the author's name includes a middle initial, you would omit the period from the first name, create a single space, type initial followed by a period.
List any secondary author's names after the first name of the main author. Replace the period after the main author's first name with a comma. Type the secondary author's names in normal order with their first names listed first and last name listed second. Separate the additional authors with a comma. Place a period after the last name of the final author.
Type the name of the play after the author or authors are listed. Create one space after the period that follows the author's name. Change your font setting to italics, as play titles must be italicized in MLA format. Place a period directly after the last word of the title. Return your font to normal setting before moving forward with the citation.
Type the location where the book was published. You can find the publication location in the front of the book or by reviewing the back of the title page. Place a colon directly after the location with no space. Create one single space and type the name of the publisher. Place a comma directly after the publisher's name. Create one single space after the comma and type the year it was published followed by a period. Create one single space and type the method of publication, which is usually "Print."
