Art Colleges in Corpus Christi, Texas

Corpus Christi is a coastal town in Nueces County, South Texas. The city is host to various art festivals throughout the year include the Corpus Christi Festivals of Arts and performances at the Harbor Playhouse. While Corpus Christi proper features two schools that offer arts programs, there are other art schools in the area around the city that offer a variety of degree and no degree programs as well.
  1. Del Mar College

    • Del Mar College, located in Corpus Christi, offers associate of art degrees in studio art and art education. Students take courses in photography, art history, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, digital arts, as well as courses to round out the associate degree such as composition and mathematics courses. The school has various accreditations and affiliations including the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, Texas Association of Community Colleges and the American Association of Community Colleges. Financial assistance is available through grants, loans and scholarships for qualified students.

    Texas A&M University

    • Texas A&M University, located in Corpus Christi, has several accreditations including, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The college offers eight areas of study: graphic design, ceramics, art history, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpting. Student may choose from both graduate and undergraduate degrees. Undergraduate degrees include Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts with a teaching certificate and Bachelor of Arts. Graduate degrees include Master of Fine Arts and Master of Arts. To enhance a student's education, the college offers opportunities to study abroad.

    Art Center of Corpus Christi

    • The Art Center of Corpus Christi is an education center that also hosts art exhibits. While it does not offer programs or degrees, the school teaches art classes to both children and adults. Continuing adult courses include classes in the areas of painting, drawing, clay and pottery, collage and portrait paint. Children's classes include basketry, young adult painting and pottery. The fee per class is due at time of sign-up.

    Coastal Bend College

    • Coastal Bend College has four campuses in Texas, the closest being in Kingsville, approximately 45 minutes from Corpus Christi. The Kingsville campus has a fine arts department offering, associate degrees in studio art or graphic design, and a certificate in art education. The courses include drawing, painting, watercolors, sculpture, glass and ceramics, along with general courses such as composition, history and humanities. Financial aid is available for qualified students.
