How to Know if Someone Violated Parole

Someone who is on parole is conditionally released from incarceration before her prison term in over. The terms of a parole are very strict and sometimes challenging to adhere to. There is a possibility, therefore, that the parolee will violate his parole. Under the US Public Information Act, criminal records are considered public records that can be accessed by anyone. Someone's parole status can therefore be accessed publically from various sources.

      Contact the parole officer through the Department of Corrections in your state. Navigate the Department of Corrections website to find the department's contact information. Provide the name of the parolee and request to speak to his parole officer to find out if parole was violated.

      Search through the state government website for criminal records. On the criminal records link, type in the name of the person you are finding out about and all required information. Information about his parole status and whether he violated parole will be available.

      Contact the court that issued the parole to find out if a warrant of violation of parole was issued against her, if she has not yet been arrested for violation. From the searches in Step 1 and 2, you can get information about the court that handed down the parole. Provide the court clerk with his name, state and date of birth, for the clerk to check the court records.
