Calculating your grade point average (GPA) requires basic math skills. GPA is graded from 0.0 to 4.0, with a perfect GPA at 4.0. The number is based on letter grades and credit hours. Each course has a corresponding credit hour. You will first need to know that the letter grade "A" equals 4.0, "B" equals 3.0, "C" equals 2.0, "D" equals 1.0 and "F" equals 0.0. Courses that are either "pass" or "no pass" aren't factored in when calculating the GPA.
