Introduce yourself by making small talk about your life back home and what you plan to study while in college. Turn the conversation around and ask about your roommate's hobbies and plans for school. This will keep the conversation going as well as allow you to learn more about your roommate.
Spend time together. Plan a night out on the town or attend a campus event. Meet up for lunch or dinner or attend a party together. Wherever you go will be a chance to get to know each other and hang out.
Have a weekly house dinner with friends. Cook at home or have each person bring a separate dish to make each week an exciting culinary adventure.
Ask your roommate to study with you if two have the same classes, or classes relating to similar subjects. Studying and researching together will give you a chance to get to know and bond with your roommate. You can also walk to class together to get to know your roommate more as well.
