Decide on the game theme you want to pursue. Consider the demographic set up of your guests while choosing your theme. Search magazines and the Internet to identify the kind of beauty theme you want. Look up for different themes from the Internet and beauty magazines. You can decide on a theme by selecting a unique makeup style from a celebrity or identifying a beauty trend significant with specific years such as the 80s trend.
Select images to reflect your game theme. Images are an important aspect of the salon game, as they allow the women participating to have a clear visual of what they need to accomplish. Get your images from beauty magazines and cut out models or celebrities with a look that represent your theme. For example, if your theme is about the 50s beauty, the 'doe eye' look, select images of models in that era. With the Internet era, you can download and print images to have a hard copy for participants to view.
Stick the cut-out and printed images onto hard cards. Stick the images onto one card if working with a single theme. If the game features multiple themes, use different cards to highlight the themes. For every theme, select a single image showing a model depicting the theme. Issue every guest with a theme card.
Make the game interesting by offering prizes to participants. Set various parameters for participants to accomplish in order to win prizes. Make the parameters competitive and interesting by setting rules such as most creative finish in the shortest time possible. Attach the parameters together with the theme card to make sure the rules are adhered to. Explain the game and rules to all guests and give room for them to ask questions if not well understood.
Add a twist to the game. Give the participants a chance to practically apply skills learned. Allow individuals to select a theme they liked or an aspect of the theme such as make up and do it on themselves. For example if the guests were trying out the 50s and the 80s makeup style, let them choose the theme they like best and do it. The participant can also practice the theme in pairs or groups.
