How to Brush Your Teeth With Sonicare

The Sonicare toothbrush is absolutely amazing. In fact, it has been shown to whiten teeth, prevent cavities and clean teeth underneath the gum line. While these toothbrushes can be relatively expensive, they prove to be well worth the cost. Brushing your teeth with a Sonicare, however, is like no other toothbrush. In fact, a standard electric toothbrush doesn't hold a candle to the Sonicare. The feeling is much different. If you are a new Sonicare owner, use this guide to adjust yourself to your new toothbrush.

      Squeeze a half inch of toothpaste on the Sonicare bristles and quickly scrub the brush around all of your teeth. This ensures that every inch of your mouth is covered by toothpaste before you start the sonic pulsations. It can be difficult to disperse toothpaste once you turn the Sonicare to the on position.

      Press the round button on the handle of the toothbrush to begin the sonic vibrations. Only do this when the toothbrush is in your mouth. This will prevent toothpaste and water splatter. Be sure to take it easy at first. If your toothbrush does not come equipped with a beginner's mode, only use your Sonicare for 1 minute at a time the first 3 days. Your mouth will slowly adjust to the intense vibrations.

      Start in one corner of your mouth and slowly work you way around all of your teeth. Move the brush in a circular motion over your gums and teeth. Make sure your touch the fronts and backs of your teeth. The difference with a Sonicare and a regular toothbrush, however, is that you do not need to scrub with a Sonicare--you simply show the brush where to go. The sonic vibrations do the work for you.

      Continue brushing until the toothbrush automatically stops it's sonic pulsations. Most models will stop after 2 minutes, but some go for 2 1/2 minutes. If you haven't finished your whole mouth, press the button again and finish. Once you are completed, press the round button once more.

      Place your Sonicare toothbrush on it's charging base. This base should be plugged in at all times next to your sink. This way it is simple to just place your toothbrush in the base after you brush each day. If you follow this step, you will never be caught with an uncharged Sonicare.
