Latin is an Italic language that was spoken throughout the ancient Roman Empire. Learning Latin grammar can be useful because romance languages such as Spanish, French and Italian are derived from Latin, and many words in English have Latin roots. Latin is also useful for doctors, judges, attorneys and anyone working in the legal or medical field because laws and medical terms are often written in classical Latin.
