How to Learn Latin on the Internet

The Latin language provides the foundation for many languages, while Roman culture and civilization have provided the background for much of Western civilization.
  1. Types

    • There are several different versions of the Latin language that a student could study. Classical Latin was the language of the Roman civilization during the classical period. Biblical Latin, a form of Vulgar Latin, is a liturgical language used by the Catholic Church from the Dark Ages to the present.

    Benefits

    • The Latin language forms the basis of most Romance languages, including Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese, and even many English words. Latin may also help with exams such as the SATs, according to Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers Inc., a publisher of many Latin resources.

    Considerations
