Decide the method you would like to attempt first. There are several online tutorials that will teach the basics of Swedish, but the best and most effective method to learning a new language would be to purchase a language book that provides basic phrases and grammar lessons. If possible, purchase a book that comes with audio discs, so that you can hear the language as it is being spoken.
Learn the basics. If you are able to learn language and grammar basics, you will be able to see how more complex sentences are formed. If you know you will be needing certain phrases more than others, focus on mastering those before moving on to a broader vocabulary.
Proceed to more complex phrases or words once you are comfortable with the basics. In doing this, you will be able to work around understanding a sentence, even if you can only make out certain words.
Take notes. Some people write down every phrase they learn as well as helpful hints that will assist them, while others record the difficult terms or phrases. You can review your notes about the challenging words you encounter and become more familiar with them over time.
Practice the language a few hours a week and work at it diligently. By dedicating a certain amount of time a week on learning the language, you will see your progress on the way to becoming fluent in the Swedish language.
