Open enrollment colleges and universities typically only require that the prospective student possess a high school diploma (or equivalent) to qualify for enrollment. Open enrollment colleges and universities pepper the state of Massachusetts.     • Salem State University, Worcester State University and Westfield State University are just three of the open-enrollment colleges found in the state of Massachusetts. Established in 1854, Salem State University in Salem, Massachusetts, enrolls approximately 10,000 graduate and undergraduate students annually. Worcester, Massachusetts, is the home of Worcester State University. Fall 2009 student enrollment at Worcester State University was 5,473 students. Westfield, Massachusetts, hosts Westfield State University. Horace Mann founded this institution in 1838.

    Bachelor's Degree Programs

    • Many Massachusetts-based open-enrollment colleges offer bachelor's degree programs for undergraduate students to pursue. Salem State University offers several degree programs that lead to undergraduate degrees like the bachelor's degree in business administration, bachelor's degree in early childhood education and the Bachelor of Science degree in fire science administration. At Worcester State University, undergraduate students can enroll in programs leading to bachelor's degrees in biotechnology, business administration, health education and natural science, to name a few. Bachelor's degree programs are available in such areas as communication, computer information systems and business management at Westfield State University.

    Master's Degree Programs

    • Graduate-level coursework is available at many of the open-enrollment colleges in Massachusetts. Graduate students at Salem State University can take courses towards such graduate-level degrees as the Master of Business Administration degree and the Master of Education degree in bilingual education. At Worcester State University, students can study towards master's degrees in such fields as biotechnology, health carer administration and middle school education. Master's degree programs in areas like mental health and psychology are available at Westfield State University.

    Certificate Programs

    • Several open-enrollment colleges in Massachusetts offer certificate programs. Worcester State University offers several certificate programs. Graduate students at Worcester State University can pursue the certificate of advanced graduate study in such subjects as reading and school psychology. This university also offers pre-medical, pre-dental and accounting certificate programs. Westfield State University offers certificate programs in business management. Certificate programs in applied behavior analysis and homeland security are also available at this university.
