The Universal Technical Institute (UTI) has a mission to "enable individuals to complete technical training leading to career success." It accomplishes this mission by providing financial aid, developing educational programs and increasing support for technical education in the automotive industry. Many of the largest corporations in the automotive industry, including BMW, Ford, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan and Toyota, recognize UTI as an industry leader and hire its graduates. Most National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) mechanics also come from UTI.

The Arizona Automotive Institute (AAI) offers training programs in automotive service technology, combination welding, air conditioning, heating, refrigeration, and ventilation (ACHR) and diesel technology. To attend AAI you only need a high school diploma or the general education development (GED) equivalent. Financial aid is available for those who qualify. AAI is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), approved by the United States Code Title 38, the US Department of Education and the State Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. Licensure from the Arizona State Board of Postsecondary Education was also granted to AAI.

The Glendale Community College (GCC) has an automotive department that's certified by the General Motors (GM) Automotive Service Educational Program (ASEP), the Ford Motor Company's Automotive Student Service Educational Training (ASSET), the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and the Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep College Automotive Program (CAP). GCC students learn to work on hybrids, sports cars and sports utility vehicles (SUVs).
