Cosmetology Schools in Northeast Ohio

The Ohio State Board of Cosmetology requires all cosmetologists to obtain 1,500 hours of education and training from a licensed cosmetology school, as of 2010. Northeast Ohio has several cosmetology schools to choose from, each with its own advantages and disadvantages, depending on the specific needs of each future cosmetologist. Key aspects to consider include the variety of classes offered, licensing exam pass rates of previous graduates and job placement assistance.
  1. Carousel Beauty College

    • Carousel Beauty College is one of the oldest cosmetology schools in northeast Ohio, and it has five campuses located throughout the state. Accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts & Sciences (NACCAS), Carousel offers government financial aid to help students cover tuition and supplies costs. Carousel also provides lifetime job placement assistance and guarantees students will pass the state licensing exam. If a student fails the exam on the first try, Carousel Beauty College offers free additional training until the student passes.

    • The Casal Aveda Institute opened its doors in 2004 and provides Aveda education from on-site instructors as well as experts who give special seminars to keep students up to date with the latest innovations. This training supplies the information required to pass the Ohio state licensing exam and equips new stylists with additional advanced knowledge. Aveda creates schools and salons that use its own organic skin care and hair product lines, so this program is most appropriate for those who intend to work at an Aveda salon upon graduation. Casal Aveda offers financial aid as well as job placement assistance.
