Motorcycle Safety School Training Courses

According to Motorcycle-Accidents.com, almost 5,000 people died in motorcycle accidents in 2006. Organizations like the Motorcycle Safety Foundation are attempting to reduce these numbers each year through programs, safety courses and general awareness about the importance of motorcycle safety. Many reputable courses are located across the country, in every region.

    • Austin Moto Academy in Austin, Texas, provides motorcycle education and safety courses for the Central Austin urban rider. As of September 2009, the state of Texas requires all first-time Class M license riders to take a state-approved course before hitting the road. Austin Moto Academy provides the beginning rider with the opportunity to get their license, learn on the academy motorcycles--all while shopping for their first bike. The academy offers a basic rider course, advanced rider course and a scooter rider course.

    Bay Area Motorcycle Training, California

    • Bay Area Motorcycle Training provides the state-required course for riders younger than 21 years old, as well as basic and advanced riding courses. Located in San Francisco, the training center provides in-depth motorcycle training in a non-threatening and controlled environment through its several experienced riding coaches. Students of the program spend most of their time on motorcycles, learning as they ride in sparsely populated areas and working their way up to city streets. The course is delivered in three sessions, totaling about 15 hours of lessons.

    A & M Motorcycle Safety Course, Florida

    • With two Jacksonville, Florida locations, A & M Motorcycle Safety course provides no-pressure training for beginner and advanced motorcyclists. The courses are available in two- and three-day stints, with motorcycles provided. Additionally, the beginning course waives the required state motorcycle exams if passed and qualifies students for considerable insurance discounts. Students of the course learn basic motorcycle operation, mechanical troubleshooting and the rules of the road. They also get hours of on-road experience to prepare them for what's to come. Each course costs $225.
