Located just outside Kansas City, in the town of Bonner Springs, Target Master Shooting Academy offers classes on gun safety and technique, all taught by NRA-certified instructors. A course on fundamentals offers new gun owners a broad introduction to gun safety, storage, cleaning and firing. The three-hour course costs $81.50. The Kansas Concealed Carry Course, which runs eight hours, provides participants with full qualification for the concealed carry permit and costs $125. Other practical classes include marksmanship and shooting, both at beginner and advanced levels. Private instruction is also available for $65 per hour.

With classes held at the Bass Pro Shops of Olathe, Kansas, Equalizer Defense, LLC offers concealed carry courses for Kansas, Missouri and Florida, shooting skills classes and target practice sessions. The concealed handgun training course costs $150 and includes a $20 gift certificate for Bass Pro Shops. It runs from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and is offered one Saturday a month. The Enhanced Shooting Skills course offers further practical instructions to those who have passed the concealed carry course. It lasts four hours and costs $145, with small classes limited to four students per instructor.

Offering firearm courses both to individuals and corporations, SRT runs a number of courses at various locations throughout Kansas. Several courses, including the conceal and carry training course, take place at Cabela's outfitters shop of Kansas City. The conceal and carry course qualifies graduates for licenses both in Kansas and Missouri. SRT offers the conceal and carry course several times a month, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Following the classroom portion of the course at Cabela's, the practical component is covered the same day at a local range. SRT offers other practical shooting courses at Bulletstop range in Wichita, including basic and advanced handgun and shotgun techniques.
