Aspiring bartenders all over Illinois can get their start at one of five American Professional Bartending School locations. Study in Chicago, Schaumberg, Calumet City, Villa Park or Riverside. Students can complete the program in as little as one to two weeks. Courses include mixology, product knowledge and presentation and etiquette. Instructors have more than 20 years of experience in the beverage industry and hold certification to teach. Students also earn alcohol awareness certification as part of the program.
American Bartenders School is accessible for bartenders in a number of locations, including New York City; Little Falls, New Jersey; and Palm Desert, California. This two-week program includes courses that touch on a number of bartending topics such as bar setup and equipment, speed techniques, fruit cutting and garnishes and customer service. Students will also focus on different liquors, wines and beers. The program also helps students with job placement when they complete the program.
In 2010, graduates of The Professional Bartending School of Arlington, Virginia found 1,200 bartending jobs. The program, in operation since 1968, is a 40-hour load with 10 four-hour classes. Classes touch on topics such as liquor types, history and uses; bottle flipping; money handling; maximizing gratuities; and setting up the bar. Students learn in a bar environment; the facilities include complete bar equipment such as soda-dispensing guns, blenders and ice machines.
Professional Bartending Schools of America has 36 independently owned schools nationwide in cities such as Allentown, Pennsylvania; Orlando, Florida; and Tucson, Arizona. The 40-hour course exposes students to a range of bartending skills, from understanding different brands to making tropical drinks, trendy shooters and martinis. The school offers both local and nationwide job placement, so students can find help landing that perfect bartending job when they complete the program.
