Building Management Schools in Massachusetts

Massachusetts' building management schools prepare students to be able to manage and develop building construction sites. This gives them a variety of skills including project management and financial estimation skills. These degrees and courses are vital to good building development, construction and management. The state of Massachusetts has five construction management colleges distributed among its 14 counties. If you decide that attending a construction management college is a good first step in your career, then there are a number of options available for you.
  1. Massasoit Community College

    • The Massasoit Community College based in Brockton offers an architectural technology course. The course is aimed at those wishing to go on to work in construction as architects, project managers and more. The course is split into two options. The first is architectural in nature and the second is orientated toward ironworking. Both are two-year courses, with the former offering a number of credits including site development, design and physics. The latter offers a number of ironworking credits and a local seven-year apprenticeship.

    MTTI

    • The Motoring Technical Training Institute based in Seekonk, otherwise known as MTTI, offers a six-month building and property trade's technician course. The course lasts a total of 780 hours of study and contains training on carpentry, wiring, plumbing and various types of building maintenance. As well as studying at MTTI, students participate in on-site apprenticeships. MTTI offers seven basic areas of study from janitorial services to landscaping and 22 concentrated courses on areas from cost control to applied maintenance.

    North Bennet Street School

    • The North Bennet Street School based in Boston offers a full-time course on carpentry. This course is more aimed toward one element of building construction rather than overall building management. However, if you wish to specialize in building carpentry this is a good course. The school holds interviews for prospective students year-round. The course lasts for nine months and is very hands-on. Topics include carpentry math, project management, building preparation and stair construction.

    Springfield Technical Community College

    • The Springfield Technical Community College offers courses in building/construction finishing, management and inspection. The associate's course lasts two years (four semesters) and covers subjects from construction management to principles of management. The certification program is considerably shorter and covers topics including construction management and architectural design.

    Wentworth Institute of Technology

    • The Wentworth Institute of Technology is based in Boston. It offers associate programs in building/construction finishing; management and inspection. The program covers a large number of construction and building management courses covering an extensive four years of studies. Courses run from building construction to labor relations via financial accounting, project management and managing contemporary organizations.
