Types of Fundraising Events Sororities Do

Sororities hold fundraising events on- and off-campus to help raise money for the organization as well as for their philanthropies. Before embarking on fundraising events, a sorority must determine the purpose for raising money and a monetary goal it wants to reach. As a group, members of a sorority work together to plan, promote and execute fundraising events throughout the year.
  1. Live Auctions

    • With the assistance of local, small businesses and artists, a sorority can host a live auction on campus. Through a live auction, the organization ca sell everything from a dinner-for-two at a local restaurant, movie tickets, artwork, tanning packages, spa days and jewelry. Students, staff and members of the community can come to the auctions to bid on items donated by local businesses. Local businesses benefit from these live auctions because it's a chance to promote their products and services to potential customers.

    Talent Competitions

    • Host a talent show that gives students an opportunity to show their talents to the school, from dancing and singing to telling jokes and doing magic tricks. Gather the girls in your sorority and members of other Greek organizations to participate as well. Charge a fee to enter the competition for each group or individual who wants to show his talent, and charge students who want to come and see the event. If you sell snacks during the event, you can generate additional revenue for your sorority.

    Car Washes

    • During the spring and summer months, a sorority can offer car washes to students, staff and members of the surrounding communities to help generate funds for its organization. Set three prices ranges, based on the size of the vehicles you're washing -- compact cars, medium-sized vehicles and trucks and vans.

    Campus Bake Sales

    • A sorority can treat students and staff to delectable baked goods by setting up a booth on campus. Members can bake items, such as cupcakes, brownies, muffins and pies, and price them so they can make money for their organizations. Select a highly trafficked area of the campus to sell you baked good to increase potential sales.

    Sorority Yard Sales

    • Have your sorority sisters gather items they no longer want, such as clothes, shoes, accessories, textbooks and electronics, to sell during a yard sale fundraiser. Invite members of the campus and community to join you as you sell items to raise money for your sorority. Collect additional money by selling attendees lemonade, iced tea, hot dogs, hamburgers and chips.
