Your conversation may likely begin with, "Where are you from originally?" When approached with this question, make sure not to respond with just few-word answers, such as "I'm from Long Island." Instead, try to keep the conversation rolling and talk a bit about your upbringing. Ask the sister about where she came from and what it was like transitioning between home and college.
Ask what activities the sorority takes part in, such as charities, and how the girls feel about it. Ask about some of the favorite sorority activities and how the girls like the sorority house. Also talk about other activities outside of the sorority, such as what you did over the summer or clubs you participated in during high school.
Talk about life on campus, such as what dorm you're living in and how well you like your living accommodations and roommate. Stories and anecdotes are bound to happen during freshman move-in and life on campus, so make sure to share them, especially if they're funny stories. Also talk about your major and what classes you plan on taking.
Talk about favorite things, such as what kind of music or movies the sister likes. Talk about movies that just came out or music that was just released, and your thoughts on them. Also, try asking about any books or magazine articles she may have read recently. If you choose magazine articles as a topic, make sure the article isn't too heavy handed or sad.
