How to Earn Your GED in Kansas

Earning a GED, or General Equivalency Diploma, can be a ticket toward a better life for many people. This diploma states that an individual has performed the equivalent amount of work to graduate from high school, effectively preparing them for secondary education or a career in the general workforce. Each state has its own individual procedure for testing for the GED, and though policies are often similar from state to state, you need to know the specific testing rules for your state.

      Confirm your eligibility. You are eligible to take the GED in Kansas if you are a resident of Kansas, you are not enrolled in high school, you have not graduated from high school, and you are 18 years of age (in some special cases individuals between the ages of 16 and 18 may test out of high school through the GED).

      Study for the GED. The GED in Kansas is composed of five sections: Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics and Writing. These five sections will challenge your skills in each area.

      Register at your local testing center. You can find a list of available testing centers in the Resources section. When you register, you will need to bring a driver's license or other valid form of ID as well as the $68 testing fee.

      You need to score an average of 410 on each individual section of the GED and a 450 overall.
