Gather the following information in order to cite your source correctly: the author's full name (if available), the title of the article (or page title), name of the website, the publisher/organization/institution who published the work, the date the site was created, the date you accessed the site and the complete web address.
Compose your source, listing information in the following order: (punctuation and capital letters included):
Last name, First, M. "Article Title." Name of Website. Publisher. date published. Web. date accessed. <www.fullwebsiteaddress.com>. (references 1)
An example would be:
Smith, John, M. "Dogs." Dogs.com. National Animal Lovers Society. 1 January 2001. Web. 30 October 2010. <http://dogsdogs.com>.
Check with your instructor to find out if he requires the full website address in your bibliography because it is no longer required for MLA format.
Gather the following information for APA format: the author's full name, the date of publication, the title of the article or document, the website (or where article was retrieved from), the date you accessed the site and the website address.
List your information so it looks like the following (punctuation and capitalization included):
Last, First, M. (year, month, date). Title. Website in Italics. Retrieved Month day, year, from URL.
Double check to see if your source looks like the following example:
Smith, John, M. (2001, January 1). Dogs. Dogs.com (in italics). Retrieved October 30, 2010, from http:www.dogsdogs.com.
The date accessed is not needed if the site does not change often.
Add "Bibiliography" or "Works Cited" as the title at the top of your bibliography page, centering it at the top of the page. Use 12-pt font, double-spaced, in Times New Roman with 1-inch margins. This is the most common format used in academic writing; trying to jazz up your page with different fonts, sizes and formats is not needed.
List your sources in alphabetical order by the author's last name. If you have sources without a listed author, organize by the first letter in the title. Make sure to indent the second line in your sources when they are more than one line long.
List the title if you cannot find an author to cite in your source. If the date of publication is not given, use "n.d." in its place. If no publisher is listed, use "n.p." in its place. If much of this information is missing and you must cite in APA format, consider finding a more reputable source.
