How to Write a Report Title

People judge books by their covers, just as they judge reports by their titles. The title of your report is the first impression your readers will get of your paper; therefore, you need to make sure it is interesting, informative and enticing. A good report title catches the attention of the audience. It makes them interested in the topic and fills them with the desire to continue reading the rest of the report.

Instructions

    • 1

Create a title that describes the topic of the report. Your readers should gain a general understanding of what the report is about after reading the title.

    • 2

Take your audience into consideration. If your readers are experts on the subject matter, it is acceptable to use technical terms; otherwise, keep it simple.

    • 3

Create a title that summarizes the findings of your report, if it is a research project. For example, "Using Public Transportation Saves Commuters Money," or "Regular Exercise Helps to Decrease Stress."

    • 4

Keep it short and to the point. Only use words that directly describe the topic; don't confuse the reader.
