Make a title page. Write the title of the report, the date, your name, the name of the class this report is intended for and the name of your professor. Check if the college has specifications on how a title page should look and if you have to include the name of the college and the college logo as well.
Define the task. Explain what your report is about, and state clearly what are its objectives. If this is a group report, you should state that fact as well. Title this section "Terms of reference."
Explain the procedure, which is necessary only if you are conducting an experiment for the report. If you are, you should introduce the methods and materials you used and the exact way and order in which you did the experiment. Name this section of the report "Procedures and Methods."
Outline the structure of the report. Introduce the context of the report and let the reader know what exactly you will be presenting in the report. You can do this by naming specific headers to form the report and briefly stating why you included certain information. Title this section "Introduction."
Divide the main body of the report into headings and subheadings. The structure of the body is depended on the topic you are presenting. You can include charts, tables, diagrams or pictures if you have any as they will give credibility to the report. The main body doesn't need a separate title, just begin with your first header.
Introduce your findings. At the end of the report, you have to present your observations from the experiment if you did one. Title this section "Results." If you didn't do an experiment, you must explain your main conclusions you made based on the facts and research you wrote about in the main body of your report. Title this section "Conclusion."
