How to Write a Title Page in Annotated Bibliography APA Style

The APA (American Psychological Association) publication style is commonly used in the social sciences and academic journals. The sixth edition of the APA style manual is the most current edition. APA tailors formatting, in-text citations, end notes and footnotes and references. Commonly used in academic research papers, its primary purpose is to guide writers in preparing manuscripts for publication. It can take some time to become familiar and comfortable with this style, but once you write in APA style, it becomes easier to do.

      Check that the margins are set to 1 inch on both sides. Use Times New Roman 12 point font. Courier and Georgia font styles are also permissible as long as you are consistent throughout the paper.

      Insert a page header on the left side with a page number flush right. Every page will have a page header. The title page will be the only page where the header will include the words "Running head." It should look like this:

      Running head: TITLE OF YOUR PAPER

      Only the "R" in running head is capitalized.

      Make sure your title is less than 12 words.

      Press the "Enter" key five times and align the cursor to the center.

      Type your title again in title format with both capital and lower-case letters. If needed, your title may take up to two lines. Press "Enter" and type your full name without any titles or degrees. Press "Enter" and type the full name of your affiliated university or college.
