How to Make Your Own Planner for College

College planners are essential for a college student. In addition to scheduling classes, assignment due dates and test dates, a planner is an excellent resource during each semester. A well-stocked planner includes multiple calendars, contact information and resources. By making your own planner, you are able to customize it to fit your needs. Include with your planner a small pouch with pens, pencils, paper clips and a small calculator to be fully prepared for every class.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill your college planner with monthly, weekly and daily calendar pages for a semester at a time to keep information organized. Use the monthly and weekly calendars to note due dates, meetings with professors or study groups, social events and test schedules. The daily calendar is used to detail assignment requirements.

    • 2

Attach a notepad to the inside back cover of your planner so you don’t have to carry around an additional notebook.

    • 3

Include contacts pages after the calendar pages. Include professor and teaching assistant information in the contacts list and note the professor’s office hours with their contact information.

    • 4

Add dividers and folder pockets for easy access to any section of the planner. A folder at the back of your planner, next to the notepad, may be used to store syllabi from your classes.

    • 5

Include reference pages with information such as a conversion chart, country and capital list and basic measurements. Create reference pages specific to your needs by including basic phrases and translations for a language class or vocabulary definitions for natural sciences classes. Reference pages are most useful at the front of your planner, just inside the front cover.
