Buy a plain shirt in the style and color of your choice. A plain white T-shirt will do nicely, but you can choose a sweat shirt, tank top, or a shirt in your school colors, if you prefer.
Choose the design to go on the front or back of your shirt. If you want to use your school's name and/or logo, you must ask for permission from the school. Alternately, you can create a design that differs significantly from your college's copyrighted logo.
Use computer software to flip the image. When you iron on the design, it will be backwards, so reverse your image before printing it so that it will iron on the correct way.
Print your design on an iron-on transfer sheet, which you can buy at most office supply and convenience stores. Let the printed ink dry thoroughly before beginning the transfer process, in order to avoid smudges. Cut out the image from the paper, leaving about 1/4 inch on all sides of the design.
Preheat your iron to its highest setting for a few minutes but do not use the steam setting. Place your shirt on the ironing board or another hard, flat surface, like a workbench. Smooth it out to remove any wrinkles. Place the iron-on transfer onto the shirt with the ink facing down. Center the design the way you want it to look when finished.
Iron the design onto the shirt. Remove the paper backing when you’ve finished. Allow the shirt to dry and cool down before wearing it.
