How to Meet People at College Orientation

Going away to college or even attending a local school is often intimidating for new freshmen. The schools are bigger, with more students than most high schools. Often college is an eye-opener to many cultures and lifestyles. College orientation weeks are designed to introduce freshmen to the campus and their classmates. Even if you're nervous about orientation week, take advantage of the situation and make new friends by attending events and enjoying yourself.

Instructions

    • 1

Enter orientation week with an open mind and the goal of meeting as many people as you can. Encouraging yourself to attend events and speak to fellow students helps keep you motivated and calm your nerves.

    • 2

Introduce yourself to the orientation week planners and leaders. Typically, these are upperclassmen who volunteered to help freshmen get acquainted with the school. Talk to the leaders and ask for recommendations regarding clubs and organizations that meet your interests.
